Michael Griswold - Executive Chef

Born and raised in Charlotte, Michael Griswold started cooking at the age of 15. After falling in love with the craft, he obtained his culinary degree after cooking for 7 years. Throughout his career he has opened 9 different restaurants, garnering invaluable experience along the way. With Chef Gene Briggs and Tom Condron as his main inspirations, Michael got his first big opportunity as Sous Chef of Cafe' Monte upon their opening before moving on to pursue the role of Executive Chef at Midtown's Vivace. He then moved to Napa on Providence as the Executive Chef then again to The Pump House under the same role.

He now holds the title of Regional Executive Chef for the entire Napa Brand of Restaurants, including The Pump House. Chef Griswold has trained all current Chefs de Cusine at each Napa restaurant and is responsible for each season menu.

As one of Charlotte's most celebrated & established chefs, Griswold (affectionately called "Grizz") is determined to make his mark on traditional southern cooking. His style and technique in French and Italian cuisine allow him to create some of his favorite dishes with a twist. Everyday he inspires his team with his attention to detail and "Never Quit" work ethic. His determination and style translate into delicious, artistic creations that all guests enjoy.

His newest restaurant, Napa at Kingsley, promises the same level of culinary expertise blended with the best features from all other Napa restaurants.

In 2010, Chris began what he thought was going to be one summer at the Esseola Lodge in Linville, North Carolina. One summer turned into three as his passion for hospitality was born. At the age of 16, Chris began to fall in love with the industry. The three summers in the mountains were the catalyst behind Chris’ desire to continue forward on his journey in hospitality.

Chris started bartending at the prestigious Quail Hollow Club when he moved to Charlotte. Beginning in November of 2012, he started a job as a bartender with Ruth’s Chris. By the start of 2013, he began management training that would propel him into a full-time management position by the end of the year. He later became the Beverage Director for Ruth’s Chris Steak House before eventually taking on the new challenge At Napa.

He is excited to carry the torch as we open our newest restaurant in Fort Mill, SC. As the General Manager for Napa at Kingsley, Chris is excited to bring his knowledge of wine & industry experience to each table he meets.
